Fried Apple Dumplings Recipe

This deep fried dumpling resembles a fried apple pie in taste and texture. Enjoy these dumplings fresh from the fryer with a drizzle of caramel or chocolate sauce on top.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 Cup unsalted butter, diced
  • 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/2 Cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 Teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 Teaspoon nutmeg
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 Teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 Cup water
  • 25 wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tablespoons water
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 Cup sugar
  • 2 Teaspoons cinnamon

500 g apples
50 g flour
2 eggs
pinch of salt
2 dessert spoons milk
butter, sugar and cinnamon

Peel the apples and cut into small pieces or roughly grate. Beat the eggs with the salt and milk.

Gradually add the egg mixture and the flour to the apples and mix well until it forms a firm dough. If the dough is not firm enough add a little more flour. Knead the apple dumpling dough well and then form dumplings.

Bring salt water to the boil in a large pan. Place the dumplings in the water and simmer until cooked, this will take about 10 minutes. Test one first to see if it is cooked.
